Air quality assessment
We are in the process of completing our deployment of 16 South Coast Science Praxis Urban air quality monitors around the city of Oxford. We are using these in conjunction with other data both about air quality and traffic to monitor pollution levels across Oxford, and measure the effectiveness of public health measures implemented in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic on air quality. This is a rapidly changing area as the pandemic and policies around it develop so we are adopting a flexible and responsive attitude to maximise the effectiveness of the sensors and data we have. The South Coast Science Praxis Urban air quality monitor measures key pollutants such as particulate matter (PM1,2.5,10) and nitrogen dioxide as well as weather parameters (temperature and humidity). Some of our units are more capable and also measure carbon monoxide, nitric oxide, and ozone.
